ARENA BATTLES BY CODECOMBAT – COMPETITION CONDITIONS

1. Eligibility & Participation

• This category is open to students in Grades 4 to 12.
• Students participate in 3 grade groups:
  -> Code Pioneers (Grades 4-6)
  -> Code Explorers (Grades 7-9)
  -> Code Masters (Grades 10-12) 
  

2. Programming Languages & Exam Format

• Supported languages: Python and JavaScript.
• Participants must write and submit their code via the Arena Exam Panel within 24 hours.
• Code may be edited and resubmitted at any time during this period.
• Detailed exam guidelines will be announced separately.

3. Fees & Benefits

• Participation fee: 40 €.
• Students who join the first Final Exam may join the second one at a discounted fee of 15 €.
• All participants receive a free CodeCombat Premium membership, valid until 31 July 2026, provided by the Coding Olympiad.

4. Competition Structure

• Students compete in head-to-head battles, with rankings determined by the number of wins.
• 2 independent online Final Exams are held on different dates:
  -> 25 October 2025
  -> 14 March 2026
• Students may participate in either Final Exam or both exams.
• Results, medals and Grand Final discounts are awarded separately for each exam.
• Students who join the first Final Exam may join the second one at a discounted fee of 15 €.
• Students who take part in both exams will receive separate medals and certificates for each.
• If a student earns discounts from both exams, only the higher discount can be applied to the Grand Final. Discounts are non-transferable, non-combinable and valid for one Grand Final only. 
  

5. Certificates & Awards

• All participants receive a digital certificate based on performance and ranking.
• Medals and certificates are distributed within each group as follows:
  - The top 3 participants in each grade group will receive a physical Gold Medal and a Certificate of Achievement.
  - First 15%: Digital Gold Medal Certificate
  - Next 20%: Digital Silver Medal Certificate
  - Next 25%: Digital Bronze Medal Certificate
  - Next 20%: Digital Honorable Medal Certificate
  - Next 20%: Digital Participation Certificate
• The Top 3 students in each grade group (9 students total) will receive:
  - Hard Copy Medal
  - Hard Copy Certificate
  - Grand Final Discount:
    1st Places → 75% Discount
    2nd Places → 50% Discount
    3rd Places → 25% Discount 
  

6​. About the Coding Grand Finals (Orlando / New York / Italy)

• All students who participate in the Online Finals qualify directly for the Grand Finals.
• No ranking or medal requirements apply.
• Students who participate in the 1st Online Final Exam (25 October 2025) qualify for the 2026 Grand Finals in Orlando, New York or Italy.
• Students who participate in the 2nd Online Final Exam (14 March 2026) qualify for the 2026 Grand Finals in New York or Italy. 
  

CHALLENGES BY CODEMENTUM – COMPETITION CONDITIONS

1. Eligibility & Participation

• This category is open to students in Grades 1 to 12.
• Students participate in 4 grade groups:
  -> Code Starters (Grades 1-3)
  -> Code Pioneers (Grades 4-6)
  -> Code Explorers (Grades 7-9)
  -> Code Masters (Grades 10-12) 
  

2. Programming Languages & Exam Format

• Supported languages: Block Coding, Python and JavaScript.
• The exam in this category involves completing 30 coding challenges within 60 minutes.
• This category offers 3 optional Online Qualification Exam dates. Students may choose to participate in one or more of the available exams. Following the Qualification Exams, a single Online Final Exam will be held.
• The challenges in the Qualification Exams are the same as or similar to those available in the Codementum Studio.
• The Final Exam consists entirely of brand-new challenges. 

3. Fees & Benefits

• The participation fee for this category is 40 €. This fee covers entry to one Qualification Exam and one Final Exam. There is no elimination in the Qualification exam.
• Students may also choose to participate in the second and third Qualification Exams for additional practice and experience. The fee for each additional Qualification Exam is 15 €.
• All participants receive a free Codementum Premium membership, valid until 31 July 2026, provided by the Coding Olympiad. 
  

4. Competition Structure

• 3 independent Qualification Exams are held on different dates:
  -> 1 November 2025
  -> 24 January 2026
  -> 7 March 2026
• All participants take part in at least one Qualification Exam and one Final Exam.
• The total score is calculated using 30% of the Qualification Exam score and 70% of the Final Exam score.
• The ranking is determined based on the total score and the time spent on the Final Exam.
• For students who participate in multiple Qualification Exams, only the highest score will be considered.
• There is no elimination in the Qualification Exams. Students who miss the exam or score zero may still proceed to the Final Exam, with the Qualification Exam score counted as zero.

• All participants receive a digital certificate based on performance and ranking.
• Medals and certificates are distributed within each grade group as follows:
  - The top 3 participants in each grade group will receive a physical Gold Medal and a Certificate of Achievement.

• No specific rank or medal is required.
• Students who participate in any of the Qualification Exams may directly register for the Grand Finals in New York or Italy (2026) once applications open and may begin their visa process. 
  

AI PROMPT LAB – COMPETITION CONDITIONS

1. Eligibility & Participation

• This category is open to students in Grades 6 to 11.
• Students participate in 2 grade groups:
  -> Prompt Explorers (Grades 6-7-8)
  -> Prompt Masters (Grades 9-10-11) 
  

2. Fees

• The participation fee for this category is 25 €.

3. Competition Structure

• In this category, students use AI tools to create or recreate images, tables and charts by writing prompts.
• Each task gives students a limited number of prompt attempts. The goal is to make a result as close as possible to the given example.
• The exam duration is 150-minute. Students must complete all three tasks and submit their final results within this time.
• If a student does not submit or runs out of time, the last generated outputs will automatically be taken as their final submission.
• All prompts must be written in English. During the exam, no use of digital or printed dictionaries, books or translation tools is allowed. 
  

4. Exam Tasks

• Task 1: Image Recreation
  • Participants receive a reference image and must recreate it using AI prompts.
  • Up to 20 prompt attempts may be submitted.
  
  
• Task 2: Recreate a Calendar
  • Participants receive a PNG image of an Excel calendar, which may include colored boxes, days, times, rows and columns.
  • The task is to recreate the calendar using an AI tool.
  • Up to 10 prompt attempts are allowed.
  
  
• Task 3: Recreate a Chart or Graph
  • Participants receive a PNG image of a data chart (bar graph, pie chart, or line graph).
  • The goal is to recreate the chart using AI prompts. Participants may request code (e.g., Python), a chart image or a data table to assist in building the chart. 
  

5. Scoring & Evaluation

• Participants are scored based on:
  - Similarity of the result to the example
  - Clarity and precision of the prompts submitted
  - Number of attempts needed to achieve a successful result
• Perfection on the first try is not required; thoughtful improvements to each prompt are encouraged. 
  

6. Training & Preparation

• Prior to the exam, students are expected to complete individual training by practicing with various AI tools.
• A sample task will be provided for reference and students should attempt to recreate it using different AI platforms. All training must be completed independently.
• The official AI tool for the Olympiad will be launched on the Coding Olympiad portal on 1 October 2025.
• During the training period, students will receive a limited number of credits to simulate the real exam experience:
  - 20 credits for Task 1
  - 10 credits for Task 2
  - 10 credits for Task 3
• Credits may be used anytime, in any order, either all at once or spread out according to the student’s preference. 
  

7. Awards & Certificates

• All participants receive a digital certificate based on performance and ranking.
• Medals and certificates are distributed within each grade group as follows:
  - The top 3 participants in each grade group will receive a physical Gold Medal and a Certificate of Achievement.
